2024 Jasper Wildfire Evacuees

Updates from GPREP will no longer be sent daily. GPREP will update documents and information as needed when more information becomes available.

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP) is currently activated to support the 2024 Jasper Wildfires.
Below is information on the supports and services GPREP is providing.

The Town of Jasper released re-entry criteria on the municipal website, which highlights the essential service and safety requirements that need to be met before re-entry can take place. There isn’t currently a re-entry date. Details:

Reception Centre

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP) is accepting evacuees from Jasper. Reception Centre information:

  • Location: Holiday Inn and Suites – 9816 107 Street.
  • Contact: 780-830-5002 (8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday).

Supports at the Grande Prairie Reception Centre at Holiday Inn & Suites will be amalgamating into the Edmonton Reception Centre  on Saturday, August 24.

For evacuees who can transport themselves, the Edmonton Reception Center address is Kennedale Site Building 2, 12814-58 Street, Edmonton.

Arriving after-hours

  • Posters on the doors of the Holiday Inn and Suites and the front desk are put up nightly detailing where to go and what to do.
  • Check-in directly with the hotels, do not book through third-party booking sites.

Returning to Jasper 

For evacuees returning to Jasper, please check-out at the front desk of the hotel.

Evacuees are eligible to return to Grande Prairie after re-entering Jasper if they need to extend their stay.

Evacuee Supports

Registered evacuees currently receive free access to:

  • Food and lodging
    • Breakfast at your hotel
    • Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Supper: 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn and Suites, 9816 – 107 Avenue.
  • Laundry services
    • Crouse’s Cleaners (10007 98 Ave.) is providing laundry services for all registered evacuees.
    • For evacuees staying at the Holiday Inn & Suites, Holiday Inn Express and Stanford Inn:
      • Access laundry services by bringing clothes to the front desk before 10 a.m. Laundry will be returned to the hotel the following day. This service will be available from Monday to Friday (laundry picked up on Friday will be returned to the hotel on Monday).
    • For all other evacuees, walk-in laundry (wash & fold) service is provided at Crouse’s Cleaners at no cost to registered evacuees. This service can be accessed by showing GPREP wristband and ID.
  • City transit
  • The Eastlink Centre, Design Works Centre, Dave Barr Community Centre and Aquatera Outdoor Pool
  • Holiday Inn & Suites Games Room Access
    • TV’s, video games, ping pong etc.

Evacuees must show their wristband they were issued at the Reception Centre or ID for access to amenities and discounts.

  • Grande Prairie Alberta Supports Centre, located at Suite 100, 9845 99 Avenue, open 8:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Donations and Volunteering

Monetary donations can be made to the Northwestern Alberta Foundation to support impacted communities via the Northwestern Alberta Emergency Recovery Fund.

Physical donations are not being accepted at the reception center at this time. Any companies, individuals or organizations that would like to offer support to those impacted by the wildfires, can email their offers to EmergencySupportOffers@gov.ab.ca.

Donations

Local businesses are accepting donations for evacuees. Evacuees can access these goods by contacting these establishments during business hours.
